What has Changed for 2024?

In the early stages of the Range Rover's fifth generation, Land Rover has already updated the powertrain lineup for 2024. The plug-in hybrid P440e is now replaced by the more powerful P550e, delivering 542 horsepower. While the P400 and P530 models maintain their horsepower ratings, the top-tier SV model is now equipped with a 606-hp V-8 engine, designated as the P615. Additionally, Land Rover has launched the SV Bespoke customization service, offering buyers enhanced personalization options for their Range Rover. Highlighting the SV Bespoke program, Land Rover introduced the ultra-exclusive Carmel Edition during the 2023 Monterey Car Week in California. Priced at $371,475, this special edition boasts Cream Ash Burr and white ceramic interior trim, pearl oyster accents, two-tone leather upholstery, specially-embroidered cushions, and unique 23-inch wheels with white inserts. Only seven units of this spectacular edition will be produced.

The Range Rover offers four robust powertrains, beginning with the turbocharged inline-six P400, which features a 48-volt hybrid system and generates 395 horsepower. This engine proved to be exceptionally smooth and provided ample power during our initial test drive. For those seeking more performance, the 523-hp twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 engine, named P530, enhances the Range Rover's towing capacity to 8200 pounds. At our test track, the P530 accelerated the Range Rover to 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds, while the P400 achieved the same in 5.5 seconds. There is also a 542-hp plug-in hybrid option, the P550e, available exclusively on the short wheelbase Autobiography trim. The top-of-the-line SV variant features a 606-hp V-8 engine, known as P615. In our tests, the long-wheelbase P400 reached 60 mph in a respectable 5.5 seconds, whereas the short-wheelbase P530 did it in a swift 4.3 seconds. The Range Rover's ride quality is exceptionally plush; with the adjustable air suspension set to Comfort mode, it glides effortlessly down the road. Switching to Dynamic mode firms up the suspension slightly, but the Range Rover maintains its primary focus on delivering a comfortable ride.

As with previous generations, the new Range Rover model features a luxurious interior adorned with rich leathers and woods. However, buyers now have the option to choose a more sustainable cabin with a new leather-free option that utilizes wool or other textiles. The interior can be configured to seat four, five, or seven passengers, depending on the configuration and wheelbase. While the third row in long-wheelbase models might not accommodate tall adults comfortably due to limited headroom, it is well-suited for shorter passengers and children, offering almost the same level of comfort as the second row. Additionally, an optional motorized divider in the cargo area helps secure items during travel, and the split rear liftgate can be transformed into convenient seating for outdoor events.

Every Range Rover model now features a new 13.1-inch curved infotainment display equipped with Land Rover's latest Pivi Pro interface. Standard tech includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with Amazon's Alexa voice assistant. Additional standard features comprise in-dash navigation, wireless smartphone charging, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a 13.7-inch digital gauge display. The Range Rover is available in both short- and long-wheelbase body styles. We suggest opting for the long-wheelbase version, as it accommodates a third row of seats and offers a more spacious cargo area.
