  • 2022 Cadillac Escalade Review: Specs and Pricing

Overview The 2022 Escalade SUV includes every high-tech feature and the pinnacle of luxury amenities as it is the flagship of the Cadillac brand and consequently the entire General Motors lineup. Fortunately, because of the Escalade's enormous size, Cadillac was able to include many of those amenities. The cabin is lined with luxurious leather, real wood, and polished metal accents. The dashboard is dominated by a huge, curved digital panel that serves up the driver gauge and entertainment displays in a novel fashion. The stunning Escala concept car was scaled up to size XXL and fitted to the boxy contour of the Escalade for the external design. The 6.2-liter V-8 engine is the norm for most Escalades, although Cadillac also provides a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel inline-six engine as an alternative. The Escalade's ride and handling are suitable for a premium car regardless of the engine, but naturally, don't expect the same liveliness you'll find in the brand's sedans. What Has Changed For 2022? The base Luxury grade now includes both lane-keeping assistance and lane-departure warning while the Premium Luxury, Sport, and Platinum models now include Cadillac's Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving function as well as front and rear automated emergency braking as standard equipment. To Premium Luxury and Sport models, the new Touring package adds air suspension, soft-close doors, and LED door sill protector plates. 2022 Cadillac Escalade: Pricing Depending on the grade you select, the price of a 2022 Cadillac Escalade ranges from $76,295 (MSRP) to $101,595 (MSRP). Which One To Purchase? Choose the Premium Luxury Platinum trim if you want the Escalade to be fully equipped with all of its top features. It has semi-aniline leather, front seats with 16-way power adjustments and massage, soft-close doors, and a 36-speaker AKG audio system. Self-parking, a head-up display, and adaptive cruise control are further standard features. 2022 Cadillac Escalade: Interior And Comfort The 2022 Escalade, the Cadillac brand's flagship model, raises the bar for in-cabin luxury. The base Luxury trim uses faux leather, but all additional trims use genuine leather, with Platinum versions receiving supple semi-aniline hides. An upscale appearance is provided by the dash and door panels being upholstered in leather, the speaker grilles being made of aluminum, and the adjustable ambient lighting. Both a normal and long-wheelbase variant is available, similar to the outgoing generation, with the latter providing extra storage space and legroom for third-row passengers. 2022 Cadillac Escalade: Connectivity Cadillac has fully customized the Escalade's electronics in addition to adding more luxuries within the cabin. The digital dashboard, which consists of three curved OLED displays that stack on top of one another to create a cool 38 inches of combined digital real estate, is the vehicle's main attraction. A portion of the dashboard serves as the driver's gauge cluster, while the remaining portion displays the CUE infotainment system for the driver and passenger. The array of screens is reminiscent of the massive monolithic multimedia device found in the Mercedes-Benz GLS class, but the Escalade's stacked design adds depth and appears less tacky than the Benz. An augmented reality navigation system and an optional rear-seat entertainment package with two 12.6-inch monitors with streaming functionality are further technological elements. A Wi-Fi hotspot and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration are further standard features. Whichever Escalade model is chosen, audiophiles are in for a treat. Cadillac developed the Escalade's standard and optional sound systems in collaboration with Grammy Award-winning audio and acoustics company AKG. The Luxury, Sport, and Premium Luxury versions come standard with a 19-speaker Studio Sound system, but Platinum trims receive the massive 36-speaker AKG Studio Reference system. 2022 Cadillac Escalade: Engine And Performance Cadillac's largest SUV is propelled by either a turbo-diesel 3.0-liter inline-six engine or a 6.2-liter V-8 engine with 420 horsepower and the ability to turn down half of its cylinders while idling to save gasoline. Both engines will come standard with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and customers can opt for either rear- or all-wheel drive depending on their specific requirements. The Escalade rides on an independent rear suspension to aid in providing a smooth ride, just like its brothers, the Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, and GMC Yukon. On more expensive models, adaptive dampers with computer-controlled shock absorbers are also available. The long-wheelbase Escalade ESV's V-8 engine accelerated to 60 mph on our test track in 5.9 seconds. Although the diesel engine has a less refined sound than the V-8, for some purchasers, that trade-off is justified by the increased fuel efficiency and low-end torque.

  • 2022 Lexus LX Review: Specs and Pricing

Overview For 2022, Lexus underwent a complete makeover of its flagship LX SUV, giving it a modernized platform, an improved interior, and a twin-turbocharged engine. The LX600, which is based on the new Toyota Land Cruiser but will regrettably not be marketed in the United States, prioritizes off-road ability without sacrificing luxury. The new model will get by with a 409-hp twin-turbo V-6 engine in place of the robust V-8 that powered the previous iteration. The LX may be outfitted with a variety of off-road goodies, including a height-adjustable suspension system, and four-wheel drive is still standard. To compete with plusher rivals—large luxury SUVs like the BMW X7, the Land Rover Range Rover, and the Mercedes-Benz GLS-class—Lexus enhanced the new LX600's interior. What Has Changed For 2022? After a 13-year lifespan, the previous version, the 2022 LX600 is completely redesigned. Delivery is anticipated to start in early 2022. 2022 Lexus LX: Pricing The 2022 Lexus LX is one of the more expensive premium big SUVs with a starting price of $86,900. The LX lineup's flagship model is the $126,000 LX 600 Ultra Luxury, with many middle trims starting between $95,000 and $103,000. Which One To Purchase? The mid-range Luxury option, which adds luxuries like semi-aniline leather upholstery, a Mark Levinson sound system, and attractive 22-inch wheels, is what we believe to be the greatest bargain here. You should choose the Ultra Luxury trim if you want luxury that can compete with the Range Rover or top-tier BMW and Mercedes vehicles, but doing so reduces the number of seating options to just four. 2022 Lexus LX: Interior And Comfort A spacious center console between the front seats and a sophisticated, opulent interior design give the new LX a snug cockpit feel. The LX has a high-end appearance and an opulent atmosphere thanks to its quilted leather seating, leather-wrapped dashboard, wood trim, and smoked-chrome highlights. Five people can fit across two rows of seats in the base Standard trim, while seven people can fit across three rows of seats in the Premium, Luxury, and F Sport trims. The top-spec Ultra Luxury model is only available in a four-seat configuration, and it features rear-seat entertainment displays, wireless smartphone charging, and seats that have been carefully developed to provide the most comfort. 2022 Lexus LX: Connectivity The LX's dashboard has three standard displays: a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch gauge cluster screen, and a 7.0-inch screen for the climate and vehicle functions. Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are anticipated to be standard features, and wireless connectivity may even be available. There will be wireless charging available, and according to Lexus, audiophiles can enhance the stereo to a 25-speaker Mark Levinson surround-sound system. 2022 Lexus LX: Engine And Performance A twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V-6 engine with 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque powers the LX600. Both four-wheel drive and a 10-speed automatic transmission come standard. This engine debuted in the latest Toyota Land Cruiser, which has the same mechanical foundation as the LX. Given Lexus's preference for hybrid powertrains, we wouldn't be shocked to see a gas-electric system powering the LX, similar to the one seen in the 2022 Tundra pickup. The twin-turbo V-6 on the road offers sufficient power and a refined nature appropriate for a luxury application such as the LX. The LX600 achieved a zero to 60 mph time of 6.1 seconds during our tests, which will be more than adequate for most drivers. The majority of models offer a smooth ride, but fans of the F Sport model will have to put up with some harshness due to its more aggressively tuned suspension.

  • 2022 Porsche Macan Review: Specs and Pricing

OVERVIEW The Porsche Macan from 2022 is capable of racing sports sedans on a racetrack and transporting a respectable cartload of Costco supplies. Three turbocharged engines are available, with the performance-focused GTS model's 434 horsepower twin-turbo V-6 serving as the lineup's apex. The Macan's chassis, though, is an athletic partner that encourages you to hit apex after apex regardless of the engine you select. All variants come standard with all-wheel drive, and those who wish to improve the handling of the crossover may do so by choosing from several extras, such as summer tires, an adaptive suspension, a torque-vectoring differential, and tungsten-carbide-coated brakes. It is an SUV, yes, but it is also distinctly a Porsche. What Has Changed For 2022? In addition to new tire designs, Porsche revised Macan's front and rear bumpers for 2022. The steering wheel, shift lever, and center console have all been updated in the interior. The base 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder now has 261 horsepower, and the Macan S receives the GTS's 375-hp twin-turbo 2.9-liter V-6. Porsche removed the Turbo from the lineup but gave the GTS access to its 434-hp V-6. 2022 Porsche: Engine And Performance The Macan sprints to 60 mph with the standard turbo four-cylinder in under 5.0 seconds. Speed enthusiasts will want to upgrade to the twin-turbo V-6-powered S or GTS variants, the latter of which generates 434 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in under 3.5 seconds in our testing. It feels brisk around town. With a 3.8-second zero-to-60-mph time on our test track, the Macan S was only a few seconds slower than the more potent GTS. The Macan S and Macan GTS both clock in at much faster times than the Audi SQ5 and Jaguar F-Pace S. Although an SUV doesn't need to take off so swiftly, we do appreciate it. A crossover with sporting aspirations needs to be quick, but the Macan's all-around road prowess is what makes us pleased. It has an amazingly sporty sedan-like feel about it. Rarely does the driver feel a jolt from the pavement because of how smoothly and meticulously the ride is managed? Although a little lighter than in Porsche's sports cars, the steering is nonetheless incredibly accurate and wonderfully tactile. 2022 Porsche: Interior And Comfort In a crossover of this price and reputation, the Macan's stock interior fittings are disappointing, and it is expensive to outfit one in a way that honors the Porsche crest. Additionally, the Macan offers less room in the backseat than the majority of rivals. Although comfy, the driver and front passenger's power-adjustable seats are the sole luxurious-feeling components of the cabin that are included as standard. The issue may be partially resolved by covering the entire cabin in leather, but Porsche, living true to its reputation for price gouging, wants an additional $2230 only to cover the doors and dashboard with cowhide. The Macan is one of the least practical vehicles in this market because of its limited interior cubby and short load compartment. But when has purchasing a Porsche ever made sense? Six carry-on bags fit behind the bench, and 16 when the back seats are folded, which should be sufficient for the majority of passengers. 2022 Porsche: Connectivity Numerous high-tech capabilities are available for the Porsche infotainment system, but they come at a price. Everywhere in the cabin, there are 12-volt outlets and USB ports, so everyone should be able to keep their electronics charged. No Macan offers Android Auto, but it does come equipped with a Wi-Fi hotspot and Apple CarPlay. 2022 Porsche Macan: Pricing The base SUV Macan trim level costs $84,800, while the top-of-the-line SUV Macan GTS costs $138,100 for the Porsche Macan 2022. Which One To Purchase? Given the athletic nature of the Macan, we'd forgo the standard model and opt instead for the V-6-powered S, which offers a noticeable performance boost. A 10.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10-speaker audio system, and LED headlights are included as standard equipment. The Premium package, which includes heated front and rear seats, adaptive lamps, and an improved 14-speaker audio system, is something we'd also consider splurging on. We are also interested in the Sport Chrono pack due to its launch control feature and driver-adjustable drive modes. You can get tutoring and track time in your new Porsche at the Atlanta or Los Angeles location for $395 (with a $50 damage waiver fee). If you don't reside there, you can still travel and reserve time in a Porsche instead. Depending on the region and model, costs for those experiences can be as little as $400 or as much as $900.

  • 2022 Jaguar F-Pace Review: Specs and Pricing

OVERVIEW The 2022 Jaguar F-Pace is an SUV that manages to succeed in offering both traits and it boasts some lovely sheet metal to match. Some SUVs are utilitarian, while others are enjoyable to drive. In a sea of compact SUVs from Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz, the F-Pace sticks out as being inspired by the exquisite F-Type sports car. Starting with the 246 horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder P250 and ending with the supple and potent 395 horsepower turbo-and-supercharged inline-six P400 model, three different powertrains are available. The interior of the F-Pace boasts all the accouterments of a contemporary luxury vehicle, including high-quality materials, innovative entertainment technology, and a slew of driver-assistance technologies. What Has Changed For 2022? The F-Pace underwent a more extensive update for the 2021 model year, but for 2022 it is substantially unchanged and offers the same engines, features, and styling as the previous model. 2022 Jaguar F-Pace: Engine And Performance All-wheel drive and eight-speed automatic transmission are standard on every 2022 F-Pace. A conventional 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine with 246 horsepower is available. A 3.0-liter inline-six engine that is both turbocharged and supercharged and produces 335 or 395 horsepower is also an option for the F-Pace. In comparison to the turbo-fours in the BMW X3 or Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class, the conventional four-cylinder is less refined. Good reactions and brisk acceleration were noticeable during our initial test drive of the inline-six, but the transmission was reluctant to downshift for passing power in all bars of the Sport driving mode. A 5.5-second zero-to-60-mph time was reported when we tested the 395-hp F-Pace P400, which was slightly slower than the type we tested before but still felt fairly potent. For a sportier feel, Jaguar deliberately tunes the F-suspension Pace on the firm side. Although the largest possible wheel sizes (Jaguar provides up to 22-inch-diameter wheels) can cause the suspension to bounce more when traveling over bumps, the ride is never unpleasant. Every F-Pace model's steering system is fast and provides the driver with assurance-inspiring feedback from the front tires on their hands. When driven swiftly, the F-Paces' snappy reactions are quite outstanding and add to the thrill of operating this Jaguar SUV. 2022 Jaguar F-Pace: Interior And Comfort The inside of the F-Pace adheres to Jaguar's minimalist interior design philosophy throughout the lineup and has minimal detailing, easy-to-reach secondary controls, and a large amount of glass for better vision. Both the front and back seats are elevated, and the driver enjoys a comfortable seat that is directly in front of the steering wheel and pedals. The F-front Pace's seats have some of the most capacity in this class for legroom and headroom, but the back seats are only average. Both front-seat occupants can comfortably access the central touchscreen display and the large climate control controls. The F-cargo-hauling Pace's capacities are significantly more than its beautiful appearance would suggest, aside from the relative lack of cubby space for front-seat passengers. The 40/20/40 split-folding rear seats are lowered to a virtually flat position using release levers on each rear seatback and in the trunk. There was enough room for up to 22 carry-on bags. 2022 Jaguar F-Pace: Connectivity Pivi is the name of the newest touchscreen-based infotainment system from Jaguar. It condenses essential features into straightforward, well-organized menus and has a sleek appearance. Although we haven't yet tried the new Pivi or PiviPro system in the F-Pace, we did get a chance to test it out in the brand-new Land Rover Defender and found it to be buggy and prone to breakdowns. Fortunately, Pivi can be upgraded over the air, unlike Jaguar's previous infotainment system, making it simple to update the F-Pace while developers sort out the kinks. Every F-Pace has a standard 11.4-inch curved glass touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility as well as a 14-speaker Meridian audio system; other features like built-in navigation and a mobile hotspot are also available. 2022 Jaguar F-Pace: Pricing The base model of the F-Pace costs $52,400, and the F-Pace S starts at $56,000. The base price of the R-Dynamic S is $64,800, and the top-trim SVR starts at $89,500. Which One To Purchase? The turbocharged four-cylinder P250 S, in our opinion, provides the best value and performance ratio. Unique 19-inch wheels, a power-operated rear liftgate, attractive leather upholstery stitched in a diamond pattern, and the more desirable PiviPro infotainment system with navigation, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and traffic-sign recognition are all included when going from the base P250 to the P250 S.

  • 2022 Land Rover Defender Review: Specs and Pricing

OVERVIEW Although the 2022 Land Rover Defender may resemble the 1950s model, it is a wholly contemporary, high-tech off-roader with distinctive curb appeal. Three different engines are available, all of which include four-wheel drive as standard: a turbocharged four-cylinder, a turbo-and-supercharged six-cylinder, and a supercharged V-8. The Defender is available in two-door 90 and four-door 110 body types, and all variants come with advanced-duty off-roading technology like locking differentials and adjustable air suspension. Few SUVs are as capable as the Defender, and those that are typically drawn from Land Rover's lineup. Some people might think the Jeep Wrangler is a more affordable option, but the Defender outperforms it in terms of accessible premium amenities and on-road refinement. What Has Changed For 2022? The 518-hp Supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 featured in the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models will be added by Land Rover to the Defender lineup for 2022. Both the two-door 90 and the four-door 110 versions will support the V-8; a high-end Carpathian Edition variant will also feature the V-8. The Carpathian Edition package upgrades the Defender's exterior paint to Carpathian Gray, adding black paint to the roof and tailgate, Xenon Blue brake calipers, and special Carpathian Edition badging. Adaptive cruise control, heated and cooled front seats, leather and cloth upholstery, three-zone automatic climate control, and an adjustable air suspension are just a few of the luxury and convenience amenities that are included in the new XS trim, which is available on 110 models. This year, Land Rover will also offer a new, optional 11.4-inch infotainment display and even more accessory external package options. A three-row, even larger Defender 130 variant is in the works, but its release date is unknown. This year, the Trophy Edition model also joins the range. There will only be 220 available, and each one comes with a free entrance to the fall 2021 Land Rover off-road championship in North Carolina. 2022 Land Rover Defender: Engine And Performance A standard turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with an eight-speed automated transmission powers the 2022 Defender. Naturally, all models include locking differentials and four-wheel drive for negotiating difficult terrain. A 3.0-liter inline-six powered by an electric supercharger and 48-volt hybrid system is also an option for the Defender. Customers seeking more power can choose the 518-hp supercharged V-8, which in our tests accelerated the Defender 90 to 60 mph in only 4.4 seconds. The Defender is built with a unibody rather than a body-on-frame system and swaps out the old solid axles for a completely independent suspension. Coil springs are used in the standard suspension, however, air springs, which allow for changeable ride height can be added. The Jeep Wrangler's maximum clearance and wading capacity are both exceeded by the 11.5-inch ground clearance and 35-inch water-fording capacity of the Land Rover Defender. 2022 Land Rover Defender: Interior And Comfort The interior of the Defender straddles the line between luxurious and practical, with just enough styling cues from the rest of the Land Rover series to make fans of the brand feel at home. The door panels' exposed rivets give them a particularly tough appearance, and the magnesium beam that spans the entire width of the dashboard serves structural as well as aesthetic purposes. A trapezoidal expansion of the dashboard beneath the infotainment screen houses the controls for the climate system and driving mode. Instead of the center console, the shifter and ignition switch are positioned on this center stack. The center console can be flipped back in select versions to form a jump seat between the driver and passenger, comparable to a three-across bench in certain full-size pickup trucks. The Jeep Wrangler's rear seat baggage space is slightly constrained but comparable to that of competing off-road vehicles like the Land Rover Discovery. Those looking to transport people and cargo may wish to consider the larger Land Rover Discovery or invest in a roof-top load carrier. 2022 Land Rover Defender: Connectivity A larger 11.4-inch display is an option. The Defender's dashboard is equipped with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system that runs a new Land Rover interface called Pivi Pro. The Touch Pro Duo interface used by the rest of the Land Rover lineup has two touchscreens, while the Defender's system only has one, responds more quickly, and supports over-the-air software updates for upcoming models. Along with an in-dash navigation system, a six-speaker radio, and an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot, standard features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher-end Defender customers also receive a digital gauge cluster and a head-up display, and Meridian sound systems with 10 or 14 speakers are offered. 2022 Land Rover Defender: Pricing The basic price of the 2022 Land Rover Defender is $47,700 for the two-door, short-wheelbase model and $50,500 for the four-door model. The basic price for the two-door Defender X and the four-door Defender X increased to $83,500 and $86,000, respectively. The completely updated Defender V8 variants cost much more: Starting prices for a two-door model range from $102,200 to $109,000, while prices for a four-door V8 Defender start between $105,400 and $112,200.

  • 2022 Land Rover Discovery Review: Specs and Pricing

OVERVIEW The 2022 Land Rover Discovery is one of the few options for individuals looking for a luxury SUV that can handle difficult off-road routes while providing passengers with a pleasant and luxurious interior. Its seven-seat interior has enough space for a family to ride together, and it is nearly unstoppable in any condition because of its adjustable air suspension, standard all-wheel drive, and optional two-speed transfer case. The Discovery offers two distinct turbocharged engines, a 296-hp four-cylinder, and a 355-hp six-cylinder, and has a polished and comfortable ride. However, due to its trail-ready design, it must make compromises in its on-road manners, which aren't nearly as well-balanced as competitors like the Porsche Cayenne or the Volvo XC90. What Has Changed For 2022? The Discovery SUV returns for the 2022 model year virtually untouched after a more extensive facelift for the 2021 model year. 2022 Land Rover Discovery: Interior And Comfort The Discovery's interior features high-end materials and a luxurious style. There are many luxurious elements throughout the cabin, and as you move up to the more expensive trims, the level of luxury only becomes higher. For the driver and front-seat passenger, power-adjustable, heated leather seats with an available massage feature provide strong support and even better cushioning; second-row seats have fore-and-aft and recline settings. Adventure chances would be reduced if there was not enough room to transport equipment. The Disco's roomy interior proved to be extremely accommodating, with enough for 29 of our carry-on luggage when both of its rear rows of seats were folded. However, if you flip the last row of seats up and stuff the Discovery with all seven potential explorers, the Discovery can only fit two carry-ons behind the third row. 2022 Land Rover Discovery: Connectivity All Discovery models come equipped with Land Rover's Pivi Pro infotainment system. It has an 11.4-inch touchscreen display and cutting-edge features including a 4G LTE-powered onboard Wi-Fi hotspot and real-time traffic and weather reports. In 2020, Pivi Pro made its premiere with the Land Rover Defender and is currently being implemented in further Land Rover and Jaguar models. It has a more straightforward menu design and supports over-the-air upgrades. There are up to nine USB ports throughout the interior, and innovative tablet-holding devices can be utilized to set up entertainment for children in the backseat. A wireless smartphone charging pad, a 12.3-inch digital gauge display, and a full-color head-up display are all standard features, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality. 2022 Land Rover Discovery: Engine And Performance Full-time all-wheel drive is standard on all Discovery models, although buyers may opt for a 355-hp turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six or a 296-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, the latter of which uses a 48-volt hybrid system. Although we haven't had a chance to test drive the Disco with the standard turbo-four, the large Land Rover feels nimble in town and provides enough power for passing and merging onto highways. The six-cylinder Discovery reached 60 mph at our test track in 6.3 seconds. The Land Rover's ambition to be "adventure-ready" appeals to people who want an SUV for more than just cruising the mall parking lot, but it comes at the sacrifice of on-road agility. The Discovery handles better than one might anticipate, but while changing lanes, it still feels awkward and top-heavy. The Disco keeps reminding you that you're driving a large SUV. Even rough bumps are easily handled, and the ride quality is generally fairly decent. However, there is little steering sensation, particularly on-center, where a sizable dead spot necessitates repeated steering corrections when driving at a steady speed. The Disco has a maximum towing capacity of 8200 pounds, so it should be enough for any hefty loads. 2022 Land Rover Discovery: Pricing The base price of the Land Rover Discovery is $53,900, which is normal for vehicles in this class. Starting at $68,900 is the top-of-the-line Discovery R-Dynamic HSE trim. Which One To Purchase? The Discovery lineup's mid-range R-Dynamic model, which has fog lamps, LED taillights, aluminum interior trim, and distinctively designed front and rear bumpers, provides the best value. The turbo-four engine is standard on Base S and R-Dynamic versions, but the R-Dynamic may be ordered with the more potent inline-six engine for $5550. The inline-six is included as standard equipment in the highest HSE trim.

  • 2022 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Review: Specs and Pricing

OVERVIEW The 2022 Range Rover Evoque dominates the subcompact luxury SUV market in terms of appearance, but its charms are undermined by practical flaws like its small storage room and cramped back seats. The inside is well-designed and tastefully furnished, but numerous dimensionally smaller competitors provide cabins that are more spacious and have equivalent technology. Although the Evoque has two optional turbocharged engines and all-wheel drive is standard, its handling is less nimble than that of SUVs like the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLB-class, and Volvo XC40. However, those crossovers may sometimes feel more like boosted hatchbacks than SUVs, and the Land Rover Evoque benefits from its off-roading background with an elevated riding position and a solid sensation that unmistakably identifies it as an SUV. What Has Changed For 2022? For 2022, an HST R-Dynamic variant with a sporty appearance will be available. The 296-hp color turbocharged four-cylinder engine returns to the Evoque lineup with the HST R-Dynamic. The HST R-Dynamic grade adds unique glossy black 20-inch wheels, a roof painted black, black external trim, and red brake calipers in addition to the more potent drivetrain. Heated seats, a wireless phone charging pad, a power-operated rear liftgate, and keyless entry are now standard on all Evoque variants. Yulong White is replaced by Ostuni Pearl White in the color scheme. 2022 Range Rover Evoque: Interior And Comfort Unfortunately, the Evoque's bulky outer dimensions conceal a cramped interior, particularly for passengers in the back seat. The Evoque's rear seats feel incredibly cramped when compared to rival subcompact SUVs like the X1 and the XC40. However, the interior components are extremely beautiful. The dashboard, door panels, and seats of the Evoque can be chosen with very stylish textured cloth upholstery; leather is still available as standard. Ambient inside lighting, 10-way power front seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control are further standard amenities. Although it's not as large as you might expect from an SUV, the space behind the back seat was still able to hold six carry-on baggage during our testing, which is in line with the majority of the segment. 2022 Range Rover Evoque: Connectivity A 10.0-inch infotainment touchscreen running Land Rover's Pivi Pro user interface is standard on all Evoque models. Although the system is significantly better than the InControl Touch Pro system seen in cars from the previous generation, it still has certain peculiarities that purchasers will need to get used to. Standard features include navigation and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity; extras include a Wi-Fi hotspot, a Meridian premium music system with SiriusXM satellite radio, and a head-up display. 2022 Range Rover Evoque: Engine And Performance The P250, a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 246 horsepower, and all-wheel drive is standard on the Evoque. The Evoque achieved a zero-to-60 mph time of 7.1 seconds at our test track. Although competitors like the BMW X1 and Volvo XC40 offered marginally faster times, the Land Rover is still fiercely competitive. Only the highest-spec HST R-Dynamic is equipped with the more potent P300 powerplant. The 48-volt hybrid technology helps the P300's powerful 296 horsepower engine achieve a 6.6-second zero-to-60-mph performance on our test track. The Evoque can't be mistaken for a hatchback on the road like the X1 can. Although it feels solid and has seats that are fitting for an SUV, it won't satisfy enthusiast drivers as much as the BMW or Mercedes-Benz GLA class in terms of handling turns. 2022 Range Rover Evoque: Pricing The 2022 Range Rover Evoque has the highest base pricing in the luxury subcompact SUV category with a starting price of $43,775. Even the base trim may be equipped with more than $20,000 worth of extra amenities and aesthetic enhancements, making its MSRP several thousand dollars higher than that of many competitors. The price of each higher-end Evoque model rises by a few thousand dollars; the top-of-the-line Evoque HST retails for $53,900 and can cost up to $70,000 with the majority of available options applied. Which One To Purchase? To add options like a power liftgate, 14-way power-adjustable front seats, automatic high-beam headlamps with auto-leveling, LED daytime running lights, and 20-inch wheels, we'd recommend the mid-range R-Dynamic SE model. Additionally, we would pay the additional cost for the Online Pack option package.

  • 2022 Land Rover Discovery Sport Review: Specs and Pricing

OVERVIEW The 2022 Discovery Sport plays up to the Land Rover's reputation with standard all-wheel drive, water-fording capability, and a wealth of off-road tech features. Few competitors provide the same level of go-anywhere capabilities. Other small luxury SUVs like the BMW X3, Porsche Macan, or Mercedes-Benz GLC-class do not offer those features. However, those road-oriented crossovers have more luxurious cabins and offer more exciting handling than the Discovery Sport. Even while the total package doesn't quite exceed segment standards, the Land Rover's toughness and big cabin with an optional third row of seats have a certain attraction. What Has Changed For 2022? A motorized rear liftgate, heated front seats, and a wireless smartphone charging pad are among the new standard features added to the Discovery Sport for 2022. For those passengers, the third row of seats from the Disco Sport's optional Third Row pack now has cooling vents and USB outlets. The options sheet now includes Ostuni Pearl White and Lantau Bronze as new colors. 2022 Land Rover Discovery Sport: Interior And Comfort The Discovery Sport upholds the brand's premium reputation by adopting a dashboard style similar to flashier and more expensive Land Rovers. The cabin now features environmentally friendly materials and more flexible seat options. The seats in our test car were comfy enough for several four-hour or longer outings. Base models are rather well-equipped with features like push-button start, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and ambient inside lighting. Optional features include leather upholstery, front seats with 12-way power adjustments, and two jump seats for the third row. Behind its second seat, the Discovery Sport has a load capacity of 28 cubic feet. That is three cubic feet more than the Audi Q5 can claim, but it is less than the Cadillac XT5's 30-cubic-foot room in the tail. 2022 Land Rover Discovery Sport: Connectivity A 10.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Land Rover's most recent Pivi Pro interface is standard on all Discovery Sport versions. Other infotainment technologies including a 4G LTE mobile hotspot, a head-up display, and in-dash navigation are optional, while Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both standards. The 180-watt, six-speaker sound system that comes standard is replaced by two Meridian stereos that Land Rover sells separately: The first system contains 10 speakers and 380 watts of power, while the second system has 14 speakers and 825 watts of power. 2022 Land Rover Discovery Sport: Engine And Performance Each Discovery Sport sports a 246 horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Of course, the Sport is equipped with basic all-wheel drive, which helps it navigate rough terrain and withstand any storm, as well as a variety of optional trail-rated accessories. For those who dare, the Disco Sport can even wade into the water up to 23.6 inches deep and tow loads of up to 4409 pounds. A 2020 variant with a 246-horsepower engine that we tested performed poorly; the throttle response is sluggish, and the Disco Sport needs 7.5 seconds to reach 60 mph. Curvy back roads won't provide thrilling driving because the handling isn't very precise. The Discovery Sport offers a smooth ride for cruising, which is a bonus. 2022 Land Rover Discovery Sport: Pricing The Discovery Sport's starting price is $42,375. Given that other competitors' base MSRPs approach or even exceed $50,000 in this class, that is a fair starting price. The starting price of the top-of-the-line R-Dynamic SE trim, which is one of the cheapest top-trim costs among luxury compact SUVs, is $47,425. Which One To Purchase? The SE model is a great place to start because it includes several desirable amenities that the S model lacks like premium LED headlights with daytime running lights, a digital gauge display, and blind-spot monitoring. The optional 14-speaker Meridian Surround Sound radio and 14-way power front seats are features we'd splurge on. For those who require it, a third row pops up. The Discovery Sport's style can be customized in several ways by Land Rover, including a black roof, a variety of wheel options, and high-end metallic paint finishes. We advise against selecting the interior's all-black decor. That is something we encountered in our test vehicle sounds somewhat depressing.

  • 2022 Land Rover Range Rover Velar Review: Specs and Pricing

Overview The 2022 Range Rover Velar is Land Rover's tiny SUV with a focus on style, and it also distinguishes itself from its opulent siblings by exuding a refined atmosphere. The Velar is available with either a turbocharged four-cylinder or an inline-six that is both turbocharged and supercharged, but its chassis lacks the stability and vigor that we find appealing on rival SUVs like the BMW X3, Genesis GV70, or Porsche Macan. The Velar is more likely to meet your needs if you're looking for a comfy cruiser, especially if a chic, high-tech cabin is important to you. The interior of the Velar features a standard widescreen infotainment system. What Has Changed For 2022? The Velar has only undergone minor modifications for 2022. All models in the lineup now come standard with heated front seats, and a new cabin air-filtration system with ionization is now an option. Another enhanced element of adaptive cruise control that is now optional provides steering assistance for highway driving as well as an off-road mode. The color pallet now includes Lantau Bronze Metallic and Ostuni Pearl White. 2022 Range Rover Velar: Interior And Comfort Admire contemporary building design? The Velar's minimalist interior, which is mostly made up of horizontal lines and striking rectilinear forms, will certainly appeal to you. Oh, and the materials employed consistently are of good quality and are utilized in creative ways. Consider the door trim: Land Rover adds the owner's choice of wood or metal to the section of the door between the upper and lower panels rather than employing a spear of wood or carbon fiber inlay into the upper part of the door panels. Our test car had aluminum trim, and the Velar has superb finishing all over. The Velar can accommodate more carry-on luggage than its close competitors when the rear seats are folded or raised thanks to its generally boxy design and aesthetically acceptable rear overhang (bodywork that extends behind the rear wheels). With the rear seats folded down, we could fit 23 carry-ons in total. 2022 Range Rover Velar: Connectivity Of course, it would be negligent of us to talk about the inside without mentioning the two outrageously futuristic-looking touchscreen displays on the dashboard. Land Rover's new Pivi Pro infotainment interface, which is both simpler to use and more responsive than the InControl Touch Pro system from a year ago, is displayed on these two 10.0-inch displays. However, it is not without its oddities. Eight speakers, voice control, in-dash navigation, Bluetooth phone, and music connectivity, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration are all included as standard features. SiriusXM satellite radio and a superior audio system are only available with extra options or a trim-level upgrade for the Velar. 2022 Range Rover Velar: Engine And Performance The Velar's base engine, a 247-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, is adequate but has trouble moving the heavy vehicle. For a 40,000-mile long-term test, we sampled a four-cylinder Velar, and that model needed 7.4 seconds to reach 60 mph. The 3.0-liter inline-six with turbochargers and superchargers, available with either 335 or 395 horsepower, will definitely deliver improved acceleration performance, but we haven't tried this new powerplant yet. The handling of the Velar is by no means athletic, much like its acceleration. The suspension provides a strong, well-managed ride while skillfully managing the SUV's body motions and body roll. Models with the optional air suspension can adjust their ride height for more agile maneuvers both on and off the road. 2022 Range Rover Velar: Pricing With a starting price of $58,300, the Range Rover Velar is more expensive than the average vehicle in its class. The starting MSRP for the top-of-the-line Range Rover Velar R-Dynamic HSE is $78,900. Which One To Purchase? The P250 R-Dynamic S, which comes with 19-inch wheels, dual exhaust with polished finishes, a blacked-out grille, and leather and suede interior upholstery, is what we'd advise choosing. A drive-mode selection, an adjustable suspension system, and All Terrain Progress Control, which functions as a kind of adaptive cruise control at low speeds or in slick situations, are also included with the Dynamic Handling package.

  • 2024 Rivian R1S Review: Specs and Pricing

2024 Rivian R1S: Overview Rivian revs up the electric SUV market with the 2024 R1S, a seven-seater that blends power, comfort, and capability. Here's a detailed look at why the R1S should be on your radar for adventure-ready families and eco-conscious drivers. 2024 Rivian R1S: Power & Performance The R1S boasts two electric motor configurations: a standard quad-motor setup and an optional "Ascent" package rumored to deliver a monstrous 1,000+ horsepower. Both configurations promise exhilarating acceleration and impressive off-road prowess. An adjustable air suspension lets you fine-tune the R1S for maximum ground clearance or a smooth highway ride. 2024 Rivian R1S: Range Options for Every Journey Conquering range anxiety, Rivian offers new battery pack options for 2024. The standard pack targets a 270-mile range, while the Standard+ extends that to an estimated 315 miles. A larger pack, expected later this year, could push the R1S beyond 400 miles. 2024 Rivian R1S: Spacious Luxury Inside The R1S isn't just about power and range; it prioritizes passenger comfort and cargo space. The three-row configuration comfortably seats seven adults, and the second-row offers fold-flat or swivel seats for easy third-row access. With seats folded, the R1S transforms into a cavernous cargo carrier for outdoor gear or weekend adventures. 2024 Rivian R1S: Tech for the Modern Explorer The R1S features a sleek and user-friendly interface with a large central touchscreen for navigation, entertainment, and vehicle controls. The digital instrument cluster keeps you informed, while a premium sound system elevates your in-car experience. 2024 Rivian R1S: Adventure-Ready Features The R1S isn't afraid to get dirty. Integrated gear guards protect the interior from muddy boots and wet gear. A built-in compressor lets you inflate tires after an off-road excursion and a deployable "Camp Kitchen" option with a stove and sink turns any scenic spot into a basecamp. 2024 Rivian R1S :Pricing The 2024 Rivian R1S starts at a base price of $76,700. This price applies to the Adventure trim with the standard dual-motor powertrain and the smaller battery pack. Base Adventure trim (Standard battery, dual motor): $76,700 - $78,000. Adventure trim with larger battery pack: Expect an increase of around $6,000. Adventure trim with "Ascent" performance package (if available): Price is not yet confirmed but likely starts well above $83,000 Always Evolving Rivian is known for continuous improvement. Over-the-air software updates ensure your R1S stays up-to-date. The company constantly innovates, with rumors of a potential "Ascent" trim offering upgraded performance and cosmetic enhancements. The Verdict The 2024 Rivian R1S is a compelling choice for drivers seeking a luxurious and capable electric SUV. With its impressive range, spacious interior, and adventure-ready features, the R1S is poised to be a leader in the electric SUV segment. However, consider factors like availability (Rivian is still ramping up production) and potentially long wait times before placing your order.

  • 2022 BMW 3-Series Review: Specs and Pricing

OVERVIEW The 2022 BMW 3-series is a joy to drive no matter which of its smooth powertrains is in charge. Although the steering feel isn't quite as good as it could be, the body is composed on any type of road, the brakes are powerful, and the ride is comfortable for daily tasks. Additionally, it boasts a large trunk and a luxurious and spacious interior. The Alfa Romeo Giulia is a more attractive option, and competitors like the Genesis G70 provide superior value, but no other sports sedan has the Bimmer's range. The 3-series is available with a fantastic turbocharged four-cylinder engine (330i), a plug-in hybrid system (330e) with up to 23 miles of all-electric range, or a fierce 382-hp turbo straight-six (M340i) that's as eager and effortless as engines come. It also comes with a sublime eight-speed automatic and rear- or all-wheel drive. Thankfully, the sedan's greatness doesn't just revolve around thrilling driving. What Has Changed For 2022? There won't be any significant alterations to the 2022 BMW 3-series lineup. The list of minor modifications mostly consists of updated lists of individual choices, rearranged option packages, and additional standard features for particular models. 2022 BMW 3-Series: Interior And Comfort The 3's interior features a contemporary design with top-notch components and an amazing level of craftsmanship. The 3-series controls are conveniently located, and nothing about it feels cheap. BMW also enhanced the outside visibility, and the standard sport seats are well-bolstered and supportive with lots of adjustment options, making it simple to find a comfortable position. A comprehensive head-up display, programmable ambient interior lighting, heated front, and rear seats, remote start, and wireless charging are some of the extra-cost features of the automobile. Although a little disorganized, the digital instrument panel on the BMW is nevertheless beautiful. The tachometer needle moving counterclockwise may initially seem strange to some, but you quickly grow used to it. A power-operated lid is an option for the large trunk of the 3-series. The gas-powered sedan can stow six carry-on baggage back there and 17 total with the rear seat folded thanks to its 17 cubic feet of cargo room. In both testings, the Alfa Romeo Giulia could fit five and fifteen suitcases, respectively, in comparison to the Mercedes-Benz C300 sedan's one less case. Because of its battery pack, the 330e has a smaller trunk (13 cubic feet), though we haven't tested its carry-on capacity. 2022 BMW 3-Series: Connectivity The 8.8-inch touchscreen that controls the standard infotainment system can also be controlled using voice commands, a sizable knob on the console, and buttons. Navigation is a part of the Live Cockpit Plus feature set, which is a standard. The similarly called Live Cockpit Pro upgrade, which extends the touchscreen's size to 10.3 inches and offers you the most recent and sophisticated version of BMW's iDrive system, is required to get the really excellent stuff. The sedan does include two USB ports, but a pay-per-use Wi-Fi hotspot is optional. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are both included as standard. BMW's Gesture Control, which enables the driver or passenger to submit specific orders with hand gestures, is an intriguing alternative. 2022 BMW 3-Series: Engine And Performance Two powerful and smooth gas engines are available in the 3-series. A 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged in the 330i produces 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The combined output of the M340i's 48-volt hybrid system and turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine is 382 horsepower and 369 pound-feet. A turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and an electric motor are combined in the 330e plug-in hybrid to produce 288 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. The gas and electric components of the 330e appear to work well together, and we appreciate the plug-new in's Xtraboost feature, which delivers a powerful burst that feels like a shot of nitrous. A superb eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive are included with each powerplant. For a fee, you can drive all four wheels. A manual gearbox is sadly no longer available. (Purists who require a stick should wait for the brand-new BMW M3) On the 3, buyers have a choice between the standard suspension configuration and the upgrade with adaptive dampers. Our initial experience with this G20-generation 3-series was positive. The car's improved steering feel gives drivers more information about the road's surface and varying effort than its predecessor did, but it still falls short of that of the 3's legendary first few generations. The four-cylinder Bimmer triumphed in a comparative test against other sports sedans, demonstrating its value. Its ability to change from being calm and elegant to being incisive and lively was praised. In a two-car comparison, the 330i defeated the exquisite Alfa Romeo Giulia, solidifying its position as the best in its class. A further example of the nameplate's return to form is our long-term M340i, with its excellent six-cylinder and outstanding body control. 2022 BMW 3-Series: Pricing The starting MSRP for the 2022 BMW 3 Series is a reasonable $41,450. That is the lowest trim level's starting price for the BMW 330i. However, if you want to upgrade to the more powerful BMW 330i xDrive, the electric BMW 330e, or even the more powerful BMW M340i, you can expect to pay up to $56,700 MSRP. Which One To Purchase? The four-cylinder 330i is our pick because of its unexpectedly enough power and naturally athletic demeanor. An all-wheel drive is an add-on option that costs $2000. Our model would be outfitted with the M Sport package, which adds extra amenities, distinctive aesthetic cues, and a specifically adjusted suspension. With it, we'd pick the Premium package, which comes with a head-up display, heated steering wheel, hands-free passive entry, blind-spot monitoring, and other features. Investing in the Dynamic Handling option would also improve the driving characteristics of the sedan with the use of adjustable dampers and better brakes.
